How can we help you?

If I am on the contraception pill will it affect my results for the female hormone blood test?

While the female hormone test can be a valuable tool for understanding your hormonal health, it’s important to be aware that taking medication can affect the test.

If you are currently taking a hormonal contraceptive pill, the female hormone test results may not accurately reflect your natural hormone levels. This is because hormonal contraceptives can significantly alter the levels of certain hormones measured in the test, such as luteinising hormone (LH), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), and testosterone.

If you have specific concerns about your health, including hormonal health, we always recommend that you speak to your GP.
