How to improve your biological age with H&B&Me

Once you discover your biological age with H&B&Me, you'll want to know what to do next with it. To help you understand how to improve your biological age result, we spoke to our in-house Medical Advisor, Dr Francesca Haarer, to give you some easy, practical tips.

Getting started

After you complete your biological age assessment, you'll receive four wellness scores related to key areas of your overall health: sleep, nutrition, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.

Dr Francesca recommends focusing on your lowest wellness score first, as this may be the area affecting you the most.

You could set a goal or join a challenge related to that area. For example, if your emotional wellbeing score is lower than the others, you could set a meditation goal, or a goal to connect with nature.

Another good entry point is to assess what area of your overall health you'd like to learn more about, such as your sleeping habits or the amount of exercise you do in a a week, and see how working on it improves your overall health.

(We have lots of expert articles and videos to help you understand this – you'll find them in the Coach section, under the Explore tab.)

How to improve your result

Ultimately, this is your chance to get to know yourself inside-out, and H&B&Me is a tool to help you learn what wellbeing looks like for you. Here are some extra tips to help you do that:

  • Find a buddy

Making changes with a friend can make all the difference. Moving alongside each other will give you the support you need to achieve your goals [1]!

  • Plan ahead

On a Sunday for example, decide what goals you want to set yourself and what content you want to engage with over the following week. From being able to plan your exercise outfit to your food shopping list, this small habit will keep you focused and on track.

  • Build learning into your day

Beyond various podcasts and books, you can read a short H&B&Me article to learn more about what behavioural changes you can make to slowly but surely improve your overall health.

  • If you can't complete a goal, don't panic

If you've lost steam or simply not found the time to complete your goals, there's always tomorrow to just start again. Grant yourself some compassion.

  • Take it one step at a time

If you're just starting out with the app, it might help to focus on one area of your wellness to avoid getting overwhelmed.

That way, you can track your progress more easily, and not add unnecessary strain to your day. When you're happy with one area, you can move on to the next with your new habits (a bit like layering)!

The final word

All of these little changes can lead to big results, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

The more you interact with H&B&Me, the more you'll learn and understand which healthy habits work for you, and over time, the better your biological age could become.
